Instead of localizing the heat in only one area of the room like other types of small space heaters, the Vornado SRTH distributes heat more evenly so that there are far fewer cold spots. With it’s V-flow heat circulation and 2 heat settings (450 watts for low heat and 900 watts for high), the Vornado SRTH is powerful, but not quite as powerful as the Vornado Quiet Vortex reviewed earlier, which is why we had to rank it lower.
The SRTH Small Room Tower Heater by Vornado is also useful all year round, thanks to the fan only setting, which gives it a slight edge over other small space heaters that don’t. Like all the Vornado heaters, it includes built-in safety features for optimum safety and is backed by a 5 year warranty.
We should note that the Vornado SRTH is not a quiet small space heater and doesn’t have the ‘whisper quiet’ heating action featured in other Vornado heaters. It is noticeably louder, but it’s a small price to pay for such an efficient, lightweight, and versatile heater. Think carefully about where you plan to use it most before purchasing if quietude is important to you.

Introducing the latest in the Vornado VMH series of whole room heaters, the Vornado VMH600. Larger than the VMH500, VMH300, and the VMH10, the VMH600 preserves the same futuristic cubic design, it includes some additional, very useful features, but buyer beware!
While the VMH10 personal space heater has a 4hr timer, for example, the VMH600 has an extended 12 hr timer, 2 digital LED displays, and remote control! Set the desired temperature and time the heater to activate while you’re away, sleeping, or otherwise engaged. Use the remote to turn it off from another room, like the kitchen, for instance, if the heater gets too noisy or too hot. In any case, the built-in safety features and the auto-climate control sensors make the VMH600 safe to operate even without supervision.
The fan only option makes the Vornado VMH600 useful all year, but it’s the stainless steel, cool-touch exterior casing that we really love. The 2 heat settings are powerful with a maximum 1500 watt output and a lower 900 watt.
Placed on the floor or on a countertop, the VMH600 is safe to operate around small children, thanks to narrow intake slats in its metal inlet grill. Unfortunately, we found many examples of defective units, or units that went defective within 3 months of purchase. Unresponsive remote controls, inaccurate temperature readings, and heating elements that fail to heat rapidly are just some of the issues users have experienced within only 3 months of using the VMH600.
Here’s an example of one user review we found:
“This heater was slow heating rooms of 15 ft x 20 feet and 20 x 25 feet. My Vornado, set on 90 degrees and high, ran for approximately 3 hours, and barely hit 65 degrees. The temperature was 38 to 40 degrees (F) outside in winter.” (Amazon Review)
And in another example…
“The thermostat is off by quite a bit…and finally, the remote worked the first 2 times I pushed a button on it, and hasn’t worked since.”
So, for a small space heater that Vornado describes as its ‘flagship’ model in the VMH series, it’s disappointing that the digital functions and remote control are unreliable. There is, however, a ‘hassle free’ 5 yr warranty, as well as a responsive customer service department.
Overall, the Vornado VMH600 may be ‘certified and safety tested’, but it still has a few performance bugs to work out.

Once again, however, our research discovered user complaints regarding defective units. Thankfully, there is a 5yr warranty, so as long as your Glide Vortex heater has been used according to user guidelines, you should be able to replace a defective one without any hassles.
